So here is where I admit 'the dirt'.  I believe each family is a family that deserves to be remembered for who they were. A local rumor has always been that some of our baptists were descendants of William Shakespeare.  Let's face it his line did not grow too far, so this little rumor really bugged me.  While it would be great to be related to this gre...

As the holidays came to an end  - I found myself reading the half-page 17th century biography of E. Herring. I had received this page from the local museum who wished to know more about this man. Upon reading the biography I noticed that while it was only a half-page it was more about the man who mentored Mr. Herring, rather than about him.

Good Morning! If you celebrated Thanksgiving last week I hope you had a wonderful time with your family. And Happy St Andrew's day to those families in Scotland!

Today, I wanted to address a question I've heard a lot the last week or two. "How long will it take to research my family?"  Wouldn't it be fantastic if I could just tell everyone 'give me...

Today, I just want to put out a few thoughtful reminders. Thursday is the American Thanksgiving and in a few weeks time we have the holiday season in full speed. This is the time we all strive to be a bit kinder. So this week I'm sharing those kinder, thoughtful ideas.

Most people assume quite rightly, that genealogy is history. However, there are a...

I  think most companies try to  offer a special discount to our miltary and veterans... Relative Theory Genealogy is no different.  All year long there is a 20% discount on the researcher fees and  for the November period of 6-16 that doubles to 40%.

I'm not going to lie - this has raised some concerns for some people. They ask w...

So, last week I recorded a video blog for you. In the end I  was never quite happy with the many, many, many takes so have opted to not post it... not yet at least. However, this left me very quiet on my side. Here's what has been happening.

There has been some work with designers resulting in a new logo for Relative Theory Genealogy, as well...

Things are never as quiet as they seem around here.

I was reviewing some notes from a gentleman in Sussex yesterday and as I moved along through them something caught my attention.

Was it that his great-grandfather remarried within a year of his wife's death?
Was it that his great-grandfather's new bride was 22 years younger than him?
Was it that h...

Remember the Jones family? Well, let's forget about them for now, this story is about another family ... the Jones family!
I'll try to explain. You see, there are six Jones family members buried together. Three are from Jones family #1 and three are from Jones family #2. They appear to be unrelated families. Who just happened to live in the same...

Today's mystery: The Jones Family Fortune

In February 1984, the name of Mr. and Mrs. Jones and their third daughter Miss Jones were part of a public notice for the intended application to remove their remains from the at-the-time burial. This is a mystery in itself and a story for another day.

You see the mystery today is this. In April 1911, Miss Jo...

Welcome to the first blog post on our new website! I'm not a blogger, but thought it would be nice to sometimes let you in on the day in my office. While I'm sure in due time we will have a chat about the small stuff, I want to jump right into our story about the Alice 'twins'.

This story I've been working on for the last few weeks isn't far from the...
